our visit to taiwan and shanghai and HK

pictures of bali mountain:

hi dadi,

we had a great trip this past xmas and new years to taiwan, shanghai and hong kong. we went all over taiwan to see cities that i had never been before. i think you have been to all of them already - kaoshiung, fo guang shan, tainan, ilan. me, rich, momi and howard also went to bali mountain to see your place. see the pictures we took? i know if you were able to talk to us, you would tell us all the stories and history about these places. you always somehow know things that we didn't know... you have a lot of knowledge and experience from your life!

we also went to shanghai and guangzhou too. momi always says, and i always remember, that you said rich and i will probably end up in shanghai sometime in the future. you used to say that so many years ago. and now that we went there and really liked it there, we are thinking about moving there in a few years! so your words will come true.

it's funny that whenever i go to a new place i realize that you had already been there and told us about it before. you've experienced all the things that we are just now trying to experience - like working in china and doing venture capital. i wish i had asked more about your advice in those areas. i realize now that you did so many things so early on that people now are all trying to do! you are probably looking at everyone from above and thinking, "i did that 10 years ago, i can share my wisdom with you..." i guess i just really miss you advice and helping us figure out what we should do for the future. you always had all these ideas and they seemed far-fetched at the time but now look, just like you said, everyone wants to be in china now.

anyways, i just wanted to tell you that all the things you always told me while i was growing up are all so important to me. i remember them when i'm making decisions. everything you did and said in life are all influencing people like me, rich, momi and howard today. and i might even follow in your footsteps -- go from NY to Asia. you paved the road for me to do that.

love you dadi,
your L.A. forever

ps. here are more pictures of flowers blooming outside of the window while i was in taiwan:
